Alright . . . this is no big shocker — but I haven’t felt like blogging lately! Life has gotten a bit hectic, and the thought of coming up with something read-worthy just seemed to overwhelming! However, when I noticed this Daybook post on Samantha’s blog, I figured I could handle something like this. It appears that these posts are part of a bigger blog collaboration called The Simple Woman’s Daybook. So, okay . . . I’ll play!
Outside my window . . . sunny and COLD! Currently 9 degrees!! Brrrr! Snow still piled up from last week’s crazy blizzard.
I am thinking . . .about my To Do list, and how ugly and unmanageable it is. I am also thinking about throwing it in the garbage, and heading up to Door County for a little winter retreat with the hubs.
I am hearing . . . the song “Crash Years” — in my head. From this morning’s commute. Finally, a decent song to have running through my mind for the day!
I am thankful for . . . hot coffee. Naps after work. Flannel pajama pants that aren’t high-waters on my long legs. Snow days.
I am praying for . . . so many, many things. Friends going through difficult times. Resolution to the “Where should Reilly go to High School” issue. Inner peace.
Toward a healthier me . . . got on the treadmill for the first time in a month last night. Ran 4.36 miles, and it felt great. Not even dying today, as I feared. Might have to do it again tonight.
Inspiring me this week . . . Pinterest. Holy cow. So much goodness out there. It has my mind swirling with inspiration — so much that I feel antsy to do something creative! (Or buy an outfit. Or get my hair cut. Or take a beautiful photo. Or rearrange the furniture. Or eat something fabulous. LOL.)
From the kitchen . . . I just bought Stephanie O’Dea‘s More Make it Fast, Make it Slow after making the super yummy Peperoncini Beef recipe she had on her blog. Can’t wait to make some more of the recipes and love that they’re gluten free! (And easy!)
I am wearing . . . a gray and black dress, black leggings, scarf & my gray suede boots. Love this outfit because it’s cute — and I feel like I’m wearing jammies. Bonus! (Although I admit . . . I’m wearing a lot of gray and black lately. Kind of blah, but I love it.)
I am creating . . . a few things, actually. I’ve got a couple of scrapbook layouts in progress — something I haven’t done in almost a year. Feels foreign, but good. I’m also working on knitting a new scarf — Jen’s GAP-tastic cowl. (I started that over the weekend, but ended up unraveling it & starting over because I goofed up. That’ll teach me to watch the Superbowl pre-game & try to knit at the same time. Gah!)
I am going . . . crazy. ’nuff said.
I am reading . . . a few things, as usual. Reshaping it All by Candace Cameron Bure, because healthy living for me and my family has been on my mind a lot lately. Running the Rapids by Kevin Leman, too. I’m reading that one along with Tracie’s MOD Squad book club.
Around the house . . . Mike finally found the nightstands that match our bedroom set, after years of diligently searching, and that caused us to rearrange some furniture as we anticipate their arrival. Makes me want to change things up a bit elsewhere. Still trying to tackle the clutter in the house to simplify things (My goal for the year.)
A few plans for the rest of the week: Register Reilly for classes at St. Cat’s (one of our choices for next year), go out with friends on Saturday night to watch Snowdance, attend the Cupcake Clash and meet Duff with the fam (and Heather & her fam) on Sunday, and then have dinner with the Flynn clan to honor Larry’s birthday. (I hope people continue to celebrate my birthday after I’m gone!)
A picture to share . . . two, actually. My silly boys jumping off the roof after removing snow from it last week! (Thankful I didn’t have to navigate my way to the E.R. in all that mess, too!)
