On Auto-Pilot

2005
12.20

Every morning at breakfast and at several other times during the day, my daughter has been taking great delight in letting me know how many more days until Christmas. She enjoys the screams I emit every time she tells me. Hysterically funny to a five year old. Of course, my theatrics are all for show . . . right?! Sigh. I wish. Christmas is coming whether or not I’m ready for it, and I admit — I’m not ready.

I hate the fact that as soon as the Christmas crunch time arrives, my body and brain go into auto-pilot mode. I’m not feeling, I’m not enjoying. I’m just one living, breathing “To Do” list. And that sucks. I want to be that 5 year old kid again who cannot contain her excitement for the upcoming holiday!

I have to give a shout out to Theresa McFayden for her fabulous post about women being the engine of Christmas. Brought tears to my eyes, she put it so well!! I also have to give her a virtual ((hug)) for giving me a ton of inspiration for the gifts the kids and I made for their teachers this year!! Anyways, make sure to read her post — I know you’ll all agree!!

Long Ago, in a Galaxy Far Away . . .

. . . I was tagged. By Melanie. Seriously, it was over a month ago. And I haven’t forgotten about it or decided to ignore it! I just haven’t gotten around to it until now! Sorry, Melanie!

Before I un-tag myself, I’ve just got to say something about Melanie. I don’t remember how I stumbled upon her blog and website . . . but she is hands-down one of the artists I admire the most. I LOVE her style. I am in awe of collage artists, and truly wish I knew how to do it. So, Melanie, if I’m ever in Pennsylvania (my dad grew up in Erie!!) will you give me a lesson?! :)

So, anyways here are 20 random things about me:

1. I always wear a thumb ring and a toe ring.
2. I wish I was a redhead.
3. My “internal chatter” never stops.
4. I wish I was more patient with people — especially my DH and the kids.
5. I love to sleep, but wish it wasn’t necessary.
6. I spend WAY too much time on the internet.
7. I am torn.
8. Procrastination is the key to my success. LOL!
9. I’ve only recently come to realize the power of girlfriends.
10. My hair is naturally curly.
11. My children are the most brilliant kids in the world. No, really!! :)
12. I am truly blessed to have a son and a daughter . . . that are polar opposites from one another.
13. I hate cooking. It scares me. (Did I mention that my DH learned to cook under the guidance of the Kennedy family chef?)
14. I hate the way my hands look. Ick.
15. At every job I’ve ever had, at least one person has called me “Lisa.”
16. Now that my last name is Flynn, I get called “Lynn” a lot. Oh, c’mon people!!
17. I’d love to become a SAHM to hone my domestic skills.
18. I am ALWAYS tired. Always.
19. I don’t tend to take very good care of myself.
20. Making this list didn’t take me nearly as long as I though it would.

It took me 12 minutes. And that’s how many people I’m supposed to tag to take this challenge!! However, I don’t think 12 people read this blog!! So, I’ll tag Alison, my husband’s distant relative thrice removed! LOL! and anyone else that wants to give it a whirl!!
