If this doesn’t make you smile today, nothing will

This is a picture that Meghan drew of me for a school assignment. Handed in to Sister Claire — The nun. Notice my boobies. (Thanks, Meg.) I feel a teacher conference coming on . . .

Meghan's Mommy

I was inspired to animate my crayon self from Melanie. She did this type of animation on a drawing that her daughter made, and I thought it looked like a fun thing to try. My husband wants to know how I did it, and I told him I wouldn’t share my secret until he told me I was lovely and talented. I’m still waiting . . .

Anyways, I thought the flailing arms were appropriate . . . since I tend to do a lot of that as I attempt to get the attention of my children. Sigh. You’d think my arms would be toned as a result!! But no such luck!! I probably have extremely strong vocal chords, though . . .

I’ve determined that . . .

I really need a vacation. Away from the daily grind. We didn’t go on one this summer, and I’m regretting it. Not that it would have helped, because I’m stressed out NOW!!!!

Sigh. My life is so out of balance right now, it’s not even funny. However, when I look at the equation, I realize that there’s not much I can eliminate to make things easier. ((Sigh.))

I think it’s time to start advertising for a personal assistant. LOL. I wish.

The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly. Very ugly.

Aah . . . Friday night. I honestly had my doubts whether I’d survive this week with my sanity intact!! It started out bad . . .got worse . . . but fortunately, turned itself around just in time for the weekend!

The Bad:
* Our kitty, Hobbs, having a seizure on Monday night. He’s had them before . . . but not for four years. The last time he had them, the vet seemed to think he’d gotten into something toxic. They stopped after a week or so, thank goodness. So, why did he get another one NOW? Kitties generally don’t suffer from epilepsy. They get seizures because they have a neurological problem (like a tumor) or because they’ve gotten into something toxic. Like eating a mouse that decided to have poison for lunch. Needless to say, I didn’t get much sleep Monday night. (He hasn’t had another seizure. Yet. But I’m still paranoid that he will.)

* The kids witnessing said seizure. Meghan asking if Hobbs was going to die. Reilly softly crying himself to sleep at the prospect of losing his dear best furry friend. If I could take their hurt away . . .

The Ugly:
* A sewer back-up at 10 p.m. on Tuesday. Oh, c’mon!! Not what I need, just as I’m about to crawl into bed!!

* Wading through my flooded laundry room/scrap room to move important things. And then having no way to wash up, because if I run the faucets, the basement will just get wetter. Clorox wipes, anyone??

* Using an ancient roller mop to soak up as much of the water and ring it out into buckets. (My forearms will be sore for weeks!)

* Losing a box of scrapbook supplies that accidentally got set down on the floor. (I try not to do that, keeping in mind that I share my scrap room with the floor drain and the laundry room!)

* Waiting up for three hours for the emergency plumber to show up. And he doesn’t. At least I get to call their dispatcher and give him a piece of my irritated and sleep-deprived mind. I hope he’s enjoying having 2 anal openings now.

* Sleeping on the couch, since I got skeeved out thinking about crawling into bed after my sewerage bath!!

* Not going to work on Wednesday (and having to take it as a day of vacation, to boot) so I could wait for the plumber to arrive.

* Taking the plumber downstairs to show him the now semi-dry, but still yucky, basement — only to find out that my DH really hadn’t unplugged our water softener . . . because it had regenerated and re-flooded the laundry room. Moreso than the first time.

* Spending the 5 hours after Brian the Wonder Plumber (my hero) leaves cleaning up the mess.

The Good:
* Finally getting a shower at 3:30 pm!!

* Realizing how lucky I was in comparison to the people of New Orleans and Biloxi.

* Getting a suprise visit from Barb, who stopped by just to give me a hug for the bad day I was having!!

* Getting to tell Michael that he was partially responsible for the clog . . . and that it wasn’t simply because of lint from my washing machine. Tomato skins + garbage disposal = BAD. Very Bad.

* Sleeping for more than 3 hours. In my bed. Aah.

* Getting to attend the Open House at the kids’ school on Thursday night. I’m so impressed by the teachers this year!! They’re absolutely fabulous, and I’m excited to see how they influence my children!! It’s going to be a great school year.

* Finally feeling like I’m a part of the school community. Because I work full-time, I feel like I don’t get to know many of the people at school. But I realized that I recognize a lot of parents, and they now recognize me, too. A lot of very cool grown-ups — and I wouldn’t mind getting to know them more!

* TGIF!! Whee!!

* Getting a copy of the new Scrapbook Answers magazine, and e-mailing the assistant editor with my positive feedback. And then receiving a reply from the editor of the magazine herself, thanking me for the note, and asking if she can use a portion of it in the November issue of the magazine!! (Does this count as being published?! LOL!)

* Coming home to find my new 50mm lens waiting for me!! Can’t wait to play with that this weekend!! (Look out kids, Mommy has the camera!!!)

* Quiet play time with Meghan, who has felt left out lately. Apparently Mommy has been spending too much time with Reilly, helping him with his homework.

* A Saturday alone with the kids, while Daddy is away at Brew Fest. (He and his beer buddies are as excited about this brewing competition and festival as I was about attending the 2peas crop!! It’s funny to read their e-mails, as they plan their exciting day!! I don’t get it, but I understand it!! LOL!)

I guess that’s the long and short of it. Okay, maybe the Long of it!! But I haven’t posted in awhile . . . .
